Conetix Anti-Spam Platform Office 365 Email Delivery Delays

Scope of Issue

There's a delay currently with email scanned by our Barracuda Anti-Spam Firewall when delivering to Office 365. This will affect both incoming mail to your account (if you use Office 365) as well as sending mail to other Office 365 customers. As the issue affects Office 365 servers only, all other email through the Barracuda is flowing without issue.

No mail will be lost and there will simply be a slight delay. The Conetix team is working to implement a fix as quickly as possible.

Updates and Status

  • 10:40 - 04/02/2019 - Issue flagged.
  • 11:10 - 04/02/2019 - Flow issue identified and fix being investigated.
  • 11:40 - 04/02/2019 - A fix is currently being implemented and needs to be applied to each domain. We expect all domains to be patched within the hour.
  • 12:20 - 04/02/2019 - The fix hasn't been successful for the full deployment. Conetix staff are currently working with Microsoft in order to determine a better fix.
  • 13:10 - 04/02/2019 - In order to prevent any further delays, where Conetix controls the DNS for the domains we're setting it to deliver direct to Office 365. This will at least alleviate issues with new mail while Microsoft work on the issue with existing email.
  • 14:30 - 04/02/2019 - Mail is being delivered now from the backlog but progress is slow. Conetix is still working with Microsoft to escalate the issue further. Unfortunately, as the issue is at the Microsoft end all we can do is continue to push them for a better resolution.
  • 19:30 - 04/02/2019 - While the backlog of mail continues to drop, not all email has been delivered. Conetix is continuing to work around the clock with Microsoft to resolve.
  • 22:15 - 05/02/2019 - We have successfully cleared the backlog of email. As a precaution, we haven't diverted mail back through the Barracuda until we can ensure the issue is completely resolved. This may lead to increased spam levels as an interim issue and we're confident of restoring the filtering within 24 hours.
  • 09:30 - 07/02/2019 - No further issues, system working as expected.
